Langston Hughes ... Pablo Naruda ... Walt Whitman ... Ogden Nash ... and many more ...
I love all the dream poems in the links above, but I just can't compete with them on this topic.
Oh, heck, I can't compete with them on any topic.
But particularly on this topic, I am out of my depth.
Figuratively and literally.

On Being Short And Dreaming Big
Sometimes I dream I am six feet tall
Reaching high shelves like it's nothing at all
Having the mirror at just my height
Pushing a lawn mower without a fight
Strolling a path with long legs when I walk
And easily seen in a crowd when I talk
I know this can't happen, though it would be heaven
To someone whose growth stopped at four feet eleven
*****
And funnies! All about hopes and dreams and plans and goals ... and other stuff, too ...

I hope your week is a dream come true ..... or at least not a nightmare :)

The one about revenge and accidents is hilarious. There is another side to personal height, though, as my friend who is six feet ten can attest.
Let's see, dreams?
I used to wonder if dreams might be
Magical connections to other realities
Then I wondered if maybe they could be
My brain sort of emptying
The psychological wastebasket
Now I don't know quite what to wonder about them
Except please don't let them be both.

OMG - the pop rocks one about did me in! They are all great! As a person that has been short all my life I can definitely relate to your excellent poem! I used to be all of 5'2" but as I get older I get shorter and I'm just barely over 5' now. Such are the joys of age!
I was a short person who longed to reach the dizzying heights of five foot two. I did briefly. Very briefly. On this front I have definitely looked at life from both sides.
I firmly believe we all NEED to dream - and love your funnies.
Pop rock kitty litter could be interesting. To the dog.
Love the poem. Are you really only 5 feet tall? Laundry without cat hair works well for me. The same goes for rice as pasta.
Haha I love all the funnies this week, and your poem.
So this means you are shorter than Kylie Minogue?:D
Not to worry, Jenny, you stand tall in all of our eyes.
I think I have shrunk an inch or two in the past few years, but I still tell the doctor that I am 5’4”. That makes my weight more acceptable.
I'm sure many would have the same experience with being short. My problem is that when my 4'11" wife is in a store or crowd, I can't find her!
Oh, another great poem, Jenny, and another good batch of Funnies. I like that ginger pus stranded on the door. I had some fun with this week's poem. Here it is:
Why is it that all my dreams
Appear to centre around ice-cream?
Not content with normal flavours
In my dreams I yearn to savour
Weird combinations like … hot dog and chilli.
You may think it silly
But even when I am wide awake
I dream of
Marmalade with a chocolate flake
Gooseberry and custard
Hot cross bun
Tuna and pickle
(Tuna and pickle?)
Yay, tuna and pickle -bring it on!
If asked to dream up a new ice-cream taste
Could you be bold and experiment with, say, fish paste?
Or would you play safe with a new fruity flavour?
Go on, go a bit nuts! Do me a favour
And branch out of the norm, because it seems
ALL ice-creams taste yummy -
At least they do in dreams.
Pop rocks! Ha!
I almost never dream, or at least never remember my dreams. My dream poem would be very short. :)
I dream of a time when Covid left
That nasty virus will leave us bereft.
To honour those lost though, we’ll lift a brew
And dream of our lives without that darn flu.
Definitely, a person can be too tall to fit comfortably in the "average height" world. I picked six feet because it seemed a good compromise. lol
Thanks for contributing, Doug - I love your poem and the possibilities you laid out.
It's a different world down here, isn't it, Bonnie? ha ha
I've never had a growth spurt like you described!
I agree about dreams. That's one reason I love Langston Hughes' poem so much.
And not so much to the cat ... I wouldn't want to have it actually done to a cat, but the expression on the dog's face made me smile.
Under five feet, but we can call it five feet if you like. lol
Yes, I'd rather rice than pasta, too. By far!
I'll just say we would see eye to eye, literally :D
Ha ha! I love that approach! We all get a bit shorter as we get older, don't we? Even those dang doctors :)
Ha ha! Tall people problems! Pfft :)
Some people are much more adventurous than others! I think you're in the first category, and I am firmly in the second :D I've read about savoury ice creams people make at home, and I applaud their inventiveness. I've also read about contests to come up with new potato chip (crisps) flavours, and some of them were wild!
Thanks for contributing again, SBM - I'm glad you had fun with this one!
I grew more than eight inches in a year, and a couple more in the following year. My bones needed a LOT of extra calcium in that growth spurt and my teeth suffered badly.
Spoken like a dog, not cat, owner - lol
Yeah, I rarely dream either. I had to use a different interpretation of the word!
I think this is a dream shared by everyone, Marie - thank you for putting it into verse.
Your poem made me smile and think of my step-mom, who's also 4'-11". Good things come in small packages! :-)
Woo hoo! A fellow short person! But we need the tall ones, too, to help us get stuff off the high shelves at the grocery store :)
That is a HUGE amount to grow in such a short time. It must have stressed your body - and probably your mind, too - a great deal.
I am 5'5 and short for my family...loved these funnies today!
Another good week. I wonder how the pigeon cat succeeded?
You have my sympathy, i stopped growing at age 12, when i was exactly five feet tall. Since then i've shrunk and inch-and-a-half, boo.
That's why i learned to climb grocery store shelves, but you have to watch carefully that no one who works there is nearby.
While i've seen some kittens fall asleep in wild positions, that's a new one on me. Pop rocks, i about fell out of my chair on that one. Great funnies, and a fun poem. Happy Monday!
It's annoying to be the shortest one in the family, isn't it? lol
Glad you had a chuckle :)
Yeah, seems like a good plan but with difficult execution :)
Another member of the Munchkin club - lol - welcome, Mimi :) I worry about climbing the shelves in case I pull something over on myself!
Thanks for the Monday wishes - the same to you :)
Your poem made me chuckle a lot because my mom was only 4'11" and 1/2. It was very important to her that the 1/2 was included. Take care.
I can relate to that! Thanks for dropping in, Mr. S :)
Bwahahaha! Loved your poem!
And I always wanted to be short! It's not quantity, it's quality.
And your funnies today. Belly laughed out loud. Next to an open window. Now my neighbours are looking out THEIR window...
My dream, too, Marie!
Hmmm...onion and garlic. I think it would be awesome!
Yeah, I'm pretty much going with the psychological wastebasket! Unless I really am going to get stuck in an elevator with a very nice, polite Steve Carell...
The way you dream height, I dream a lack of girth! I have only a couple of inches on you, though, so I get every line of your poem.
Always happy to swing by, jenny_o.
I think sneaking just a few pop rocks in would be better.
I've been 6'1" most of my life. Then the nurse said let's get your height. She said, 72 inches. No wait! It's 73 inches. Let's check again. Nope 72.
THEN, this year she says 71 inches. NOOOOO! My membership in the 6 foot club has been canceled.
Will you believe that for unknown reason whenever in my life I saw people six feet tall i felt bad for them
I don't know my height but almost 33 years ago I was 5 feet four inches. In my life I knew and I know fortunately that what matters most is ideas ,thoughts and attitude of person rather than his or her physical appearance.
I think you have quite not just attractive but also powerful personality and I bet your life till this day is wonderful proof of this :)
I loved reading linked poems and I fully agree to the poet.
Enjoyed your hilarious selection of funnies as always :)))
Thank you for letting us know what a lovely person you are dear friend!
Hugs!
