I just wanted to let you know that the storm has passed and all is well here.
We had a sustained power outage but being in a town we have been lucky to have power restored in a timely way. It's probably too late for everything in the fridge but the freezer will pull through.
Your good thoughts for Newfoundland/Labrador are welcome, as that is Dorian's next target.
Here is a news article that explains more, if anyone is interested: Post-Dorian Cleanup.
I spent a lot of time sitting in the dark thinking of the folks in the Bahamas who lost everything -- including, in some cases, their lives -- when Dorian hit there last week. I feel so fortunate in comparison, and so sad for them. The world is far from being a fair place, is it not . . .
Unfair yes. More and more people everywhere, 7 billion of us, and more in harm's way. I am happy to hear all is well at your home. I have blog friends up and down the east coast and am thinking of you as Dorian rages.
I hope this storm is soon history. And yes, so many of earth's people are in jeopardy. Thanks for stopping by, Terra.
Thank you for letting us know. You've been in my thoughts. May this storm soon be past for all.
Thank you for your thoughts, Bonnie. Yes, indeed, this storm can't fade away fast enough.
Well, if nothing else, I know more of the history of the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas than I did before the storm.
Apparently there were a couple of slave ships that had their "cargo" freed there in what became an international incident while the islands were still colonized by British loyalists who fled the American revolution.
The current devastation there looks horrific.
I wonder whether the Bahamas status among the financially well-to-do will expedite the recovery effort better than what we saw in Puerto Rico last year.
I'm glad you made it through the storm OK, and thank you for the update.

Some of the unfairness is breathtaking isn't it? I am glad that you are ok, but my heart aches for so many who are not.
It is unfair, and i am glad for you that all is well and very sad for them.
That’s my thoughts too, Jenny. We had a rough night but the Bahamas...
I sure hope there is timely aid to the Bahamas, and from what I've read there is still a great need in Puerto Rico so long after that disaster.
Yes, and yes.
They have so much ahead of them to be done.
Good to hear you are ok, at least.
We were lucky.
Glad to hear that you are safe. You had a scare but otherwise safe.
The job of cleaning up will be long and difficult, and really, neverending. May the world have mercy for the Bahamas.
Yes, we were very lucky.
So glad you are okay. Things in your fridge might surprise you, if the fridge wasn't opened during the blackout, it would remain cold inside so not much would "go off" in just a few hours. Sniff and/or taste before tossing things out.
I am glad, above everything, that you are ok. I few years ago my area was hit by a hurricane and within a day, the more than kind Canadians were here to get us up and running. They were fantastic and did not leave until all lines were up and ready. We will never forget their help in our time of need.
We didn't buy a whole lot of stuff just prior to the storm so there wasn't a lot to deal with. Sometimes sniffing and tasting doesn't catch the bad stuff, so I err on the side of caution. We lost power for 18 hours - it was a bit too long for my liking.
We had help from outside our province for this storm, too, Arleen - hard times really bring out the good people, don't they? I'm grateful for everybody who worked to help out. And I'm glad to hear that Canadians could give you a hand after your hurricane.
Dorian was very scary indeed - so sad for those who lost everything. I'm glad you made it through okay.
this is fortunate for me as friend that i could not keep in touch at right time dear Jenny
i am extremely sorry for being late my precious friend !
i am sorry that storm came to your town but Lord is merciful and gracious to keep you in his safe hands
thank you so much for sharing your well being ,this is relief indeed!
since netflix is on we mostly neglect listening news since few months until something important is going on in state ,therefore i could not know the updates of weather at your part of land
my heartfelt prayers and best wishes for people who faced threat or destruction of any kind !
hope they restore their lives soon ,amen
Although we were scarcely affected, I know that wasn't the case for everyone in the Atlantic provinces. We feel very fortunate.
I add my wishes to yours, baili. Our region was still much better off than places further to the south of us. I hope they get the help they need.
