Still Kicking

Just a brief post to let you know we are all well here.

We just had our power restored, twelve days after Hurricane Fiona hit.

It's been a long, loooooooong twelve days, my friends.

My mother stayed with me and is still waiting for a repair to her house power line. That is supposed to happen within the next few hours.

I feel for those who are still without power.

It was a storm for the record books.

More later.

  1. I am so very glad that you are still kicking. And hope that the power (to your mama's home and others) can be restored quickly.
    HUGE hugs.

  2. Thank you for letting us know. It's a worry when a blog goes quiet. I'm glad your power's back but what a long time to be without it.

  3. Thanks for letting us know. I'd been wondering. Twelve days without power sounds like a nightmare. Hope things will be back to normal for you soon.

  4. I've been thinking of you. Had figured you still must have been without power. Truly a very long grind. Hope your mother's is restored soon. Don't envy the refrigerator/freezer clean up. Hopefully, your water and sewer still worked. We lose those, too, when power goes out. Best of luck recuperating.

  7. Oh wow. Twelve days without power is unimaginable. You must be so relieved and for some time won't take for granted what happens when you flick a switch.

  8. I'm so glad you're okay - I've been thinking of you. I'd heard from some of my other Maritime friends who made it through, so I was hoping you'd come through all right, too. :-)

  9. Twelve days!! I don't think I could manage that long, everything here is electric and I could use battery powered lamps and torches for light, a battery radio for sound and news, but food? most things I eat need to be cooked apart from fruit and the local shop would also likely have no power so no cash registers could operate so fruit can't be bought.
I am very glad to hear you are okay though and that your mother's home will soon be ready for her. Do you have much to do in the way of cleaning up? Fallen trees etc? Do you have help for that sort of thing?

  19. Everyone: Thank you for your warm thoughts and support. I'm still cleaning up outside and also cleaning and sanitizing the fridge, which is quite odiferous because I didn't get to throwing out spoiled food in time. I think my latest attack with chlorine bleach may have made a difference :)
