Long ago, I set up a WordPress blog so I could post comments on other peoples' WordPress blogs, and also because I thought I might use it to post pictures of my cats, other cats, maybe all kinds of animals.
It's called catsandotherwildlife and I haven't used it except as the previously mentioned magic key to leave comments on other WordPress blogs.
Well, the magic is gone. Half the time when I try to comment, it automatically signs me in as "catsandotherwildlife" and half the time it uses "jenny_o". Even when I click on "change name" and type in jenny_o, it posts my comment as catsandotherwildlife.
And sometimes it posts showing jenny_o but when I refresh the page it says catsandotherwildlife.
As if that isn't enough, if I go back a little later to the same post, it will say jenny_o again.
I can't figure it out and it's driving me crazy.
Today I tried to comment on Diane Henders' entertaining blog (go here and see her latest post!). I changed my signature to jenny_o but it showed up as catsandotherwildlife. When I tried to leave another comment (or reply) to explain who I was, the "post" (or "reply") button was greyed out and I couldn't access it even when I refreshed the page.
What in Sam Hill??? ....
Thoughts, anyone?
In the meantime, if you have a WordPress blog and receive a comment from catsandotherwildlife, you'll know why. And who.
It's just me, being hijacked by WordPress's persnickety-ness.
Clearly, Blogger doesn't have a monopoly on that :)

Sigh. I have a WP avatar and it will (mostly) let me comment. However at the moment it will not show me more than a teensy weensy sliver of the photos on WP sites.
And yes, I relate to ALL of the I am so confused photos.
Which browser are you using? I sometimes have to use a browser other than Firefox to make comments on blogs. That hasn't happened much lately, and if I remember correctly, it mostly happened on blogger, not Wordpress.
Anyway, that's why I have Opera as a backup browser, to be able to navigate these situations without having to resort to the Microsoft browser...

I have a WP identity the same as my Blogger identity, and I post on WP as me. It seems to be a problem of two identities, one person. I don't have a solution.
37paddington: I started a Wordpress blog as a place to backup my blogger posts at a time when blogger was acting iffy. But the WP site seems to be even iffier so I finally abandoned it. I do worry about losing so much of my history. On the other hand they say everything on the internet lives forever!
I started a Wordpress blog, too, just to be able to comment on Wordpress blogs. Almost every time I'm logged in to Wordpress and I comment on a Wordpress blog, it marks me as spam and my comments don't show up. My friends on Wordpress know to fetch me out fo spam jail regularly.
WordPress is supposed to be easier than Blogger. But that's not saying much.
WordPress won't let me sign in to it to comment..and I find blogger far easier for blogging as well !
I'm sure these glitches are deliberately built in to keep the brain active . . . or to fuel frustration. I find commenting on Wordpress to be irritating in the extreme and sometimes I just can't.
I too made a WP account. I have since deleted it wholly and totally ... twice! I succeeded in bungling up my first post beyond any hope of salvation - both times! So no, WP is so not easier than Blogger - and those two are at war I tell you. No comments from WP accounts allowed on Blogger, and vice versa, plus WP was trying to take over all my blogging - even after I stopped using it and logged out, it randomly logged me right back in whenever I commented on a WP blog.
I'll know it's you and pull you out of spam prison if it ever happens my place :)
I had so many issues with my Wordpress account, just set up to comment on Wordpress blogs. It worked at times but wouldn't work from my phone. It was a pain. I spent some time working on my Wordpress account and it has worked perfectly since then. Don't ask me what I did as I don't remember but now it just works.
So often I'm part of the I'm so confused gang. Blogger has suddenly stopped pointing out my spelling mistakes so that's going to be a problem when I don't catch my typos.

I know next to nothing about WordPress specifically, but all I can suggest is to delete your cookies. Then maybe when you log in as Jenny-O you'll stay that way?
You are way ahead of me, I couldn't even figure how to set up a blog on it.
Thanks for the shout-out, jenny_o! :-) If only Wordpress would behave itself, sigh. They recently changed the way their comment box works, which was a surprise to me, too. I keep thinking there's gotta be an easier way, but so far I haven't found one.
I don't have a wordpress blog or account but an old friend recently popped back up on a wordpress blog and I have no trouble leaving a comment whenever a post is up. I read a couple of other wordpress blogs but finding a "comment" button is hard, sometimes there is one sometimes there isn't, so I have given up commenting on them and just read the post.
Elephant's Child: I see from your and other comments that I am far from being the only one with commenting difficulties in WordPress. That cheers me up, not that I wish anyone else to have problems, but at least it's not just me :)
Doug: Somehow I forgot about the browser solution (or potential solution). I will try that! I've had to do it before for Blogger issues. Why did I not think of that, then? Ack.
Joanne: I'm glad it's not just me. And yes, it seems to be a problem especially if you have two identities. I'm going to try a different browser, too, as Doug suggested in his comment.

Mimi: Hmm, now that's interesting, being marked as spam for just signing in. But the solution you describe shows that if we work together we can overcome even free blogging platforms' hijinks :)

jabblog: That's it in a nutshell - it's such a bother I just give up at times, too. It wasn't always like this, but it seems to get worse and worse as time goes by.
Charlotte: I think you're right - they are battling for a share of the market. It's a shame it's so hard to use these platforms at times.

Steve: I forgot about deleting cookies, just like I forgot about using a different browser. Maybe part of the problem is me . . . and also my new operating system I am using since my old computer died. Charge is hard *cue tiny violin playing sad music*

Diane: If you can't find it, I'm willing to bet it doesn't exist . . . and I'm realizing that wasn't much of a shout-out, just a description of where the most recent issue happened in case anyone wanted to see how my comment appeared. I will rectify that! I wish WordPress was easier to comment in, because there are a number of WordPress blogs I really enjoy (including yours) and it's frustrating to read a good post and not be able to comment.
River: Yes, the lack of a way to comment means we don't have any choice but to read and move on. Which is a shame, as it takes away from the pleasant interaction.

when i started my blog in 2009 i tried to visit and follow more to all platforms of fellow bloggers and that was what my eldest son told me to do so other people can know me as new blogger .if i remember firmly those were blog catalog ,wordpress and blogovin ,word press blogs looked awesome and it there were only few who would allow to publish comments as the process was long so with time i left all and kept visiting only who visited regularly .blogger friends were frequent ones
