Blogging Troubles

I'm having trouble leaving comments on your blogs.

I'm not sure if it's my browser, or if it's Blogger, or if it's my operating system ... or something else completely. My computer expertise pretty much starts and ends with the ON/OFF switch.

I've restarted my computer, and was able to leave one comment, but with the next attempt I was foiled again.

I know I'm not the first (and won't be the last) to have this issue but what the heck, internet/blogging gods, please fix yourself because this is something I'm not equipped to deal with at the best of times, and these are not the best of times.

So if you don't hear from me for awhile, don't worry. I'm just quietly swearing sobbing in the corner. If the problem doesn't fix itself, I'll have to wait for my computer guru to give me some help. That would be my son, and he just visited me two days ago and wasn't planning to visit again until Christmas. It's going to be a mighty long ten days.

In the meantime, I'm able to post (although you may or may not be able to comment), so here are a few funnies to help us all tolerate the whims of the universe.

Wishing you a week without any glitches or emergencies, computer or otherwise.

  1. As you know I was having HUGE difficulties commenting. Changing my browser (away from Firefox) has mostly helped.
I love the funnies, and yes more than one day has seized me...

  2. It could be your browser. I use Firefox, and there are several blogs I comment on that won't let me comment in Firefox. Before you changed your commenting system I used to have to launch Opera to comment here.
Sometimes the Microsoft browser worked when Firefox wouldn't, but I didn't like it much and since I already had Opera installed (to get a free VPN that it turns out I never use) I just use it instead.
    Good luck!

  3. Dang blast all those small demi-gods giving us all trouble commenting! I think it's a combination problem; Someting like Blogger is not the problem, your browser is not the problem, WordPress is not the problem, but add them all together, they spell trouble!
I have had (almost) no problems since changing to Pale Moon Browser, but it takes getting used to and my fave adblocker does not work. Mostly my problems are due to the Blogger vs. WordPress cold war I suppose.
I fervently hope that your computer specialist son can fix it!
You're welcome to just read my blog (and I think I'm going to blog more in the coming weeks), no need to try to comment and get irritated/bothered/sad. I know you're out there.

  4. It's a problem that comes and goes. Most odd.
But at least we know you are out there!

  5. I cannot for the life of me remember whether I commented - or meant to.
I have eliminated most of my troubles commenting by switching away from Firefox to a different browser.
Love the funnies - and can totally relate to being seized by the day.
A phrase which I heard years ago and which stuck said something like 'I try to take each day one at a time, but sometimes several of them attack me at once'.
    Hugs dear friend.

  6. I feel your pain. Funnily enough, if I switch over to my tablet to comment, I don't run into the issue--even though I am still using the same web browser. It is a riddle. And I hate riddles.

Thanks for the funnies. They do produce laughs and we could all use one of them these days. :) Take care.

  7. Blogger problems are a pain. Usually they are corrected.

  8. "Dog 911" -- LOL!

Blogger commenting can be temperamental. I occasionally have a problem where my comment simply vanishes without posting or going through the Google authentication. Sometimes I find that just going away and coming back after ten minutes makes the difference. Why that is, I have no idea.

What happens when you comment and it doesn't work? Do you get an error message or does the comment simply disappear? If it's the latter, try waiting a bit and then doing it again.

Also, of course, there's that whole clear-your-cache and delete-your-cookies thing.

  9. EC: I thought of you the second I had problems! Yes, I suspect Firefox, because the problem started after a long-postponed Firefox update. Grrr! I hope the days are not seizing you too tightly this week. Hugs to you too. xx

Doug: I suspect Firefox - see my reply to EC, above. It's a shame, because I had such good luck with it for a long time. It's also where ALL my bookmarks are!

Charlotte: Yes, it could be a combination of things. I haven't heard of Pale Moon Browser; it's an interesting name!

gz: I'm glad I can at least send messages into the void, even if I can't let other people know I'm reading!

Mary: Oh, that's weird, isn't it? I love technology when it works but when it doesn't, it's like the little girl with the little curl right in the middle of her forehead . . . horrid!

Red: I guess we get what we pay for ... and maybe that's fair!

Steve: I love that Dog 911. There are a few more floating around the internet that have stronger language but that one is quite inoffensive and still funny. The thing that's happening with commenting is that when I click on the comment box there is nothing - the cursor won't appear. Not even if I click really, really hard - lol. I suspect my browser because I just updated it before the bad thing happened. Now I have to test my hypothesis, I guess.

  10. I've also saved a few of these. I like the "don't have an emergency here".

  11. I think we all have seize the day days, and then we don't.

  12. Thanks for the funnies - I enjoyed all the LOLZ, but particularly the 'handbasket'. I've had days like that...

Your commenting woes sound immensely frustrating! I see you've already had lots of help identifying the problem, so I'll just say I hope you manage to get it fixed with your sanity intact. :-)

  13. Hang in there! This too will pass. Someone will be able to give you the fix for this issue. Take care!

  14. Heeheehee! Laughing at the funnies, not your computer troubles. Those are never fun or funny.

  15. "Please don't have an emergency at this location" That's funny.
I don't remember what browser I had before Firefox, but I remember having to switch between the two if I wanted to post or listen to music clips. I don't remember what I had after Firefox either.
Since I had this new laptop I've been using Microsoft Edge, which is what it came with and haven't had any troubles.

  16. I really liked the first cat meme as I can really relate to a day seizing me instead. I also like the emergency phone one as well. Take care and I hope your glitches are fixed soon.

  17. 0_Jenny, I believe the entire web infrastructure has got overburdened lately --into spasm and partial collapse. When that happens to me, I go see somebody about it, but internet has got no central body. Compared to my 70+ years, it is an infant. When something goes haywire it just thrashes and screams. No help for it. Be patient, my friend, we just might be its parents.

  18. Mike: Save away - I saved them from elsewhere. It's the circle of life for internet memes :D

Andrew: That's almost profound, the way you wrote that :D

Diane: I love the handbasket one, too. Thanks for your encouragement :)

Marie: Seems to be fixed now by the use of a different browser - thankfully :)

Mimi: Glad you enjoyed the funnies!

River: The browser appears to have been my problem as well. I don't like change, so I don't like having to switch browsers, but ... sigh. If I gotta, I gotta.

Mr. Shife: Where would we be without memes? They are like air to me. You always have good ones on your blog too.

Geo.: And here I thought I was done with babies! Not sure I'm thrilled about being a new parent again :)

  19. I always say to Tom that I wish I knew more about the computer, I've had one for years and know no more now that when I got it, lol

  20. Commenting issues seem to be rife at the moment. I changed my comment settings in an attempt to help, no idea if it worked though!
    Lucky you can laugh!
