Antidote

I had a serious post all typed up.  It wasn't about anything in the news but it was a serious topic.

Then it seemed all too insignificant in light of the fresh wave of many sad and bad things in the news the past week.

So, instead, I want to share something that is alive, that is joyous, that is YES ... when so much else seems like no.

I hope you do not find it frivolous but instead find some comfort in the sheer joy of this creature.

(Thank you to Adam Buxton for sharing Rosie on Youtube. Best when viewed with the sound on; I promise there is no mawkish music, just the peace and quiet of a fine day - complete with rustling.)

For those who cannot watch the video, a photo of a wild rose. It's a plant that is both fragile and resilient; the blossom is delicate and short-lived but the shrub is hardy and always survives to bloom another year. A metaphor, yes?

Let's hug our loved ones and find some beauty in the world today to ease our hearts.

See you Monday.

Olga bounds like that when she gets in tall grass -- well, maybe not THAT high. It's hilarious to watch. :)

Rosie is the perfect antidote, PD. She is so much better than Children of the Corn. Can't wait to show this to littleb later.

Are they trying to see, or what?!

Now I have to go find that of which you speak :)

Ack, ack, ack, Chicken! I was going to say it sounded like a Stephen King story and ... it IS!! Now I am traumatized!

Yep. You're right- great metaphor. And that dog- pure, simple joy. Thanks.

I was reminded of a favorite childhood game. We kids used to crawl tunnels into tall field grass and try to find each other. Standing up was not allowed. Wonderful clip --thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank you so much for the antidote! The morning was filling up with credit reports and internet trolls and Rosie just doesn't care about all of that. Another good antidote video is the one about the cows that were saved from the slaughterhouse and released into a pasture, where they pranced around and kicked up their hooves...

There is ALWAYS room for beauty, frivolity, fun and laughter. The spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down.
Thank you.

This week just seemed worse, somehow. And Rosie helped.

Exactly! They have to jump up to see over the grass and get their bearings. Plus it feels good! :)

I bet Olga told you to write that last bit :)
