You may notice the next time you leave a comment that I am now using the pop-up box for comments instead of the embedded comment box.
Some folks have been having a very hard time leaving comments and they find the pop-up box works better, so I'm giving it a try.
If you want to change yours, just go to the Dashboard of your blog, click on Settings, scroll down to Comments, click on Comment Location, then choose Popup Window.
And here are a few related memes, for your amusement.
"Popped" ... "Pop-up" ... Get it? (Yep, that's a pretty tenuous connection to the post, I know) |
Thank you. Love the funnies.
ReplyDeleteI can comment here with no issues today - and may have to move to this option.
Mind you, while blogger still offers embedded comments I think they ought to work, and I would much prefer replying to people individually.
I had the pop-up comment box when I first started blogging and have thought about reinstating it, but I really prefer to be able to reply to my commenters individually. I wish I knew why EC is having so much trouble.
ReplyDeleteThank you. In your old comment system I couldn't leave a comment in my normal browser, Firefox, and had to launch Opera to leave one. No big deal, but this is much easier.

Apart from the issue with Rhymes with Plague's blog, I have never had any issues with blogger. Sometimes I wonder what's wrong with me
ReplyDeleteOn anything Apple using Safari go to Preferences, then Privacy, then find 'prevent cross-site tracking' uncheck it. Safari and BLogger are generally not compatible.
ReplyDeleteMust admit I have been having a devil of a time commenting on any number of Blogger blogs in recent months. The "whoops" error page is a more common occurrence than chewing gum stuck under a school desk. It has become so bad that despite multiple times of clearing of history and cache, closing and opening new tabs, even rebooting my computer, there are simply some times when Blogger will not allow me to post a comment. I feel bad not acknowledging the work of folks who have made the effort to post, but after six tries, I have to give up. Have sent emails to a couple of folks letting them know about the issue.
ReplyDeleteI too have changed my comment form to pop-up even if I do not like that format. I sure hope it helps. The only piece of advise I have, is to report via the Help? every single time a comment goes missing. We can hope to be heard for our persistence then ;)
ReplyDeleteNo clue, but i think most commenters haven't been having trouble on my blog. If they have, they can write to my email and let me know, i have a contact page with the info.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what you were talking about . I thought there was only one way to do comments. Now I know.
ReplyDeleteI've not had any trouble commenting on your blog but I know different computers and browsers can act up. Those funnies are great! There are several familiar ones too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the funnies! I've never had a problem using embedded comments, but I hope everyone's comment woes get solved! :-)
ReplyDeleteFor a brief time I noticed that after I left comments many of them disappeared. The problem seemed to magically go away. Tech support was here for me last night. Sweet Cheeks fixed a problem with my laptop. I'm afraid I'll miss him the next time he goes away.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Elephant's Child: Yes, I like to reply individually as well, but I'll give this a whirl and see if I can get used to it. And you're absolutely right that if Blogger offers a feature, it should work. All of us who are having trouble commenting or replying to comments need to make our voices heard to the tech people at Blogger.
ReplyDeleteRiver: I like individual replies, too. I'm going to do that, just not with the comment and the reply together. It's not as convenient, but until the problem gets fixed I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteDoug: I'm happy this is easier. I've started having problems commenting and reply also. And I'll be contacting Blogger support to say so. Maybe something will come of complaining!
ReplyDeletekylie: I never used to have problems either, but I'm beginning to, the past four or five days. Your time may be coming! :)
ReplyDeleteRachel: Thank you for that information - I honestly hadn't even considered the problem on Apple because I don't use it. This will help readers who do.
ReplyDeleteMary: I'm just starting to see the problem for myself but have known others who've been having problems for awhile. Thanks for adding your experience to the info pot :) I know what you mean about wanting to acknowledge what others post. But like you said, you can only spend so much time trying.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte: I agree - we need to let Blogger know how widespread the problem is. Otherwise, how will they ever find out?
ReplyDeleteMimi: It's so frustrating; maybe some folks are just giving up. That's how bad it has gotten for some users.
ReplyDeleteRed: Oh, I'm glad I put those instructions in! It was a last-minute addition :)
ReplyDeleteBonnie: I've never had any trouble until just the past week either ... I hope you never start having problems :)
ReplyDeleteDiane: I hope the problem gets resolved, too. As I've said in other replies, I'm just starting to have issues after five years of no issues at all. It's not fun.
ReplyDeleteJanie: So what did SC do that made the problem go away? Inquiring minds REALLY want to know! You're lucky to have good tech support close at hand :)
ReplyDeleteMy doohickey and thingamabob are both on vacation. Thanks for the funnies!
ReplyDeletee: LOL!
ReplyDeletei am doing okay though sometime comments just disappear specially the longer one after i hit the publish which is scary because i have to write again and time is less money in my poor pocket .
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing this as no wonder if i will be having same issue sooner or later .
i never found difficult to comment on your place except the thing i mentioned above dear Jenny .
hugs and blessings!
I'm glad you've found it relatively easy to comment here, baili. I hope the change I made eliminates any remaining problem.
ReplyDeleteOn the blogs where I have trouble commenting, I highlight my comment after I have typed it, then right-click and select Copy, before I click on Publish. That way, if my comment doesn't publish, I can refresh the page, open a new comment box, and right-click & Paste - it's easier than re-typing my comment all over again. I hope this helps.
Ugh. I am having so much trouble with Blogger! Ever since they 'improved it' it has been impossible--especially when trying to actually 'create' on it! I'm sorry but I have no worthwhile advice. (My usual--kick it--wouldn't work here, I'm sure!)
ReplyDeleteGREAT funnies!
